A lot of ‘real life’ people (you know, the ones who aren’t in the blogging world that you know in real life) always ask me why I would want to write about my life and post it online. They question why I would want to film myself talking shit in front of a camera, cause let’s face it, that’s basically what I do!
I had a think and I realised that actually, it takes a massive pair of dogs danglies to do what us bloggers / vloggers do. We are all a girl boss, each and every one of us! Now let me tell you why…
You’ve got to be your own biggest fan.
Let’s face it, there’s thousands of us bloggers and we ourselves, know we are fabulous. It just takes a while to get everyone else to realise it! That takes a lot of dedication and resilience because trolls still exist in this world unfortunately!
No-one is going to think the sun shines out your bottom (I am trying to cut down on my dirty words), so someone has to think it – and that’s gotta be you!
Watching or listening to yourself back on tape is one thing, uploading it for the world to see is another
It still horrifies me until this day and probably always will. But I do it for you guys; my fans, my followers, my stalkers and most importantly – my lurkers! Hey there haters how you doin’?
All jokes aside though, it takes a lot of perseverance to be able to listen to yourself ramble on and edit a video to perfection. I cringe if anyone I know reads a post or watches a video in front of me!
It takes guts to share your life with the world
I thought about starting a lifestyle blog & channel for ages before doing it. People are nosey, and I am the absolute worse! I want to know everything about everyone and if you’re a blogger or youtuber, you gotta be willing to share a fair bit, in my opinion anyway.
I mainly follow people for them – whether it be because they are funny, or just outright inspirational. When you look at it, you’re making yourself vulnerable for scrutiny, insults and judgement. So the fact you even started a blog is a bold step on its own!
I worried far too much about what people might think about me and my life before I decided to start. ‘Oh, but what if that bitch I hate judges me and mocks me to her friends’? So what?! What you don’t know, can’t hurt you and actually, a lot of people envy you for it! Fortune favours the brave and all that jazz.
You learn how to code and shit
I wouldn’t go as far as saying I can now make a full blown website on my own, but I now don’t want to run away and hide under a rock if I see a load of white space with countless <><><><> knocking about.
It actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Unless you’re an IT junkie, how many people can say they can work with important shit like that and not cock it up?!
You go to new places to meet new people ON YOUR OWN
High five to you if you’ve dragged yourself to an event because honestly, it is terrifying. I couldn’t think of anything worse and I don’t blame people for not going to any.
Yet in my true Char style, I decided ‘fuck it’. Basically. Next thing I know I’m vlogging in a room with strangers essentially! But the best bit – I had SUCH a good time and now I’ve already got 4 blogger events I am attending this year! *mini fist pump*
Doing that shit takes guts. End of.
You can make money from your hobby
If that doesn’t scream girl boss then I don’t know what does. ‘You mean you have fun AND make money? Woah that’s so cool’! You’re damn right it’s cool.
Yes, I know some of you will be all prim and proper and hit me with the ‘oh but we should blog because we enjoy it, I’m not out to make money at all! Yes – we should blog because we love to. But come on, if you can make dollar whilst doing it, what normal human is gonna say no?
The biggest heros though? The blokes who blog. They must feel even more uncomfortable than us girls do because unfortunately, gender divides still exist sometimes! So you keep doing you fellas. If you are reading this, be sure to leave me a comment!
So remember – you are a girl BOSS for blogging. It is hard, and sometimes uncomfortable so YOU GO GLEN COCO!
