Lately it has come to light that I have been feeling proper down about my blog / Instagram / life in general. I believe this has arisen because I am constantly comparing myself to others and their perfectly pictured lifestyle, and wondering how they manage it?! I’m barely able to do my ‘natural everyday’ makeup each morning!

I realised that actually, there are a few categories of the types of bloggers there are. I would love to be able to say I am an idealistic blogger – one of those who have perfect pictures, squeaky clean posts and be described as #goals. Instead, I am a self-confessed car crash who just goes with the flow!

In all honesty, half the shit you see online is a load of crap. It is hard to remember that, but it’s true. I tweeted recently about whether I was the only blogger who in fact doesn’t have an all white or marble house with cacti plants galore and most importantly; rose gold paper clips. A lot of you seemed to agree with me, so I decided to write this post highlighting the differences between the realistic truth behind what us bloggers do, vs the idealistic life we see online all the time.

IDEALISTIC: Fresh flowers in the house at all times, ready to be called on to feature in the latest blog post when required.

REALISTIC: I don’t like cacti plants. In fact, I don’t like actual plants because I murder them without even trying! It is safe to say I don’t have a green thumb. Artificial all the way!

IDEALISTIC: Let me go down to that hipster coffee shop I love and buy that fancy coffee with the swirl design. Perfect insta shot to go with my rabbit food brunch.

REALISTIC: I hate avocado on toast, salads are something I will never enjoy eating and chai tea / lattes / fancy coffees are bloody grim.

IDEALISTIC: NEW IN: the whole of the ASOS, TopShop and Zara wardrobes for this season.

REALISTIC: I feel broke from looking at all of that stuff. You mean you bought a Gucci handbag in a colour other than black?! HOW?!

IDEALISTIC: All white everything, perfect make up tables & marble furniture for the banter.

REALISTIC: Anyone else bought a fancy marble notebook with an inspirational quote on it, only to hardly ever write in it? Cause same.

IDEALISTIC: I popped in to Chanel today & I just couldn’t resist purchasing this gem. It is a must have this season!

REALISTIC: “5 things you NEED this season” – okay let me go sell a kidney to go buy that YSL bag I “need”!

IDEALISTIC: #candid.

REALISTIC: No wait, that picture has my double chin in it. Okay, say something funny so I can laugh like I am care free & happy with life 24/7!

I feel it goes without saying that of course, I am not hating. I am just being honest about the way I view the blogging world from this perspective. Obviously I am not perfect, I do drop in on the cheeky typical things bloggers do (cause we all want to fit in somehow), but mostly we just need to remember life isn’t what it always seems on social media for us bloggers!

I could not agree more. I just joined the blogging world and now I feel sooooo much pressure. I uses to think blogging was more intellectual but now its mostly just unrealistic lifestyles that are pretty to look at but impossible to live.

Yes it can be pretty overwhelming to begin with trying to come to terms with the fact that everyone’s lives can look a lot different! Keep at it and blog for you – that’s what will make you love it! xx

    Aw, I like chai tea.. : (
Seriously though, this post was great! I used to hate even looking at my blog because I didn’t feel it was perfect, but I’ve learn to be more accepting of myself and my work.
